This outline was prepared by the Citizens Research Council and is designed to be a ready reference to the 60 taxes levied by state and local government in Michigan. It contains information on each of the 38 state and 22 local taxes effective as of the publication date, including:

  • A description of each of the 60 state and local taxes and historical collections from major taxes.
  • A summary of major tax law enacted by the state legislature between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015.
  • A table of tax collections for fiscal years 2012-2015.
