Shelby Township is currently recruiting for Firefighter/ Medic’s.
Shelby Township is creating an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Medic. Interested candidates must schedule a written examination at https://www.empco.net/fts/ and apply for fire service positions with Shelby Township. There is a fee for the exam; results of testing will be accepted by all participating fire departments in MI. You must apply and pass the test by April 21, 2018 to be eligible in Shelby Township.
Qualified applicants who meet the minimum requirement through EMPCO will be contacted by the Township to complete an employment application, complete an initial physical assessment, and to schedule further screening on April 23, 2018. EOE
Qualified applicants must meet the minimum qualifications:
*Citizenship of the United States must be maintained as a condition of employment.
*Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of application.
*Must possess a valid U.S. driver license to operate a vehicle in the State of Michigan, demonstrate a good driving record, and meet the driving record requirements of the Shelby Township Police & Fire Civil Service Commission. Must provide copy of driver’s license with application form.
*Must not have been convicted of a violation of criminal law. (Criminal law generally includes all offenses except traffic law, conservation law and liquor law). In general, conviction for a violation of criminal law is automatic disqualification.
*Education - Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Must provide proof of education with application form.
*Must possess a State of Michigan Paramedic’s license, Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II certificates by the time of employment offer by the Department. Must provide Paramedic License, Fire Fighter I & II Certificates with application form or as soon as issued.
