Cancer Presumption Updates

The House Appropriations Committee just approved 3 million to fund our cancer presumption fund!!!!! We now have both the senate and house approving the same amount for next year's budget. Now they both have to give final approval in the floor and then on to the governor. Another big step forward to finally protecting our fire fighters. See story here.
The Michigan Senate voted 37-0 to fund the First Responders Presumption Law. The bill will now move to the House for their vote. Please contact your Senator and thank them for supporting the funding. Please contact your Representative and ask them to provide funding for the First Responders Presumed Coverage Fund.
Great Turn-out at First Responders Presumption Law Rally in Lansing
Over 150 members from Locals from all across the State attended this important rally in Lansing on Tuesday, March 8th. Members partipated in a rally and press conference to promote funding for the First Reponders Presumption Law and then moved inside the Capitol to speak directly to Senators.

PA 515 of 2014 took effect on January 14, 2015 but the legislature is still searching for a funding source for the cancer presumption fund. (First Responder Presumed Coverage Fund) A complete analysis of the legislation can be found here.
