CITY OF COLDWATER, MI
The City of Coldwater, is located in south central lower Michigan, in Branch County, and covers 8.27 square miles, serving a population of 10,945.
The Department is seeking applications/resumes for the position of Firefighter in order to establish a hiring list for future openings. This is a full-time career position with a very competitive wage and benefit package.
Essential/desired requirements include; must possess valid State of Michigan Firefighter I & II certifications, must possess or be able to possess a valid State of Michigan Emergency Medical Technician license or greater prior to appointment to a position, possess a college degree in any field and must reside within twenty-four miles of the City prior to completion of a one-year probationary period.
The applicant must successfully complete a criminal history background check, driving record check, written and oral psychological profile exam, medical exam and drug screen. The applicant must be a non-smoker. The applicant may, in the future, be required to obtain a paramedic license as a condition of employment.
Starting salary is $36,131.16 with top pay being $50,186.76 after four years. Additional benefits include, but are not limited to, holiday pay, longevity pay, medical insurance, life insurance and retirement through MERS Defined Contribution Plan. The employer contribution is 10% with the employee contributing 7.5%.
